Interior > Log Home Fireplaces
Log home fireplaces are often the focal point in the great room.  There are a number of different things to consider when choosing a log home fireplace and a log home fireplace finish.

The first decision to make when selecting a log home fireplace is to determine what you expect from your fireplace.  Will the log home fireplace be the primary source of heat, the secondary source of heat or the ambiance in your great room?

Once you’ve determined your expectations of your log home fireplace you can begin your search.

Log home fireplaces commonly associated as primary sources of heat are free standing wood burning stoves and a masonry fireplace with an insert (i.e. cozy heat).

Fireplaces commonly associated as secondary heat providers in log homes are zero clearance wood burning, full masonry Rumford style, zero clearance gas fireplace, or gas logs in a masonry unit.

If your primary goal is to create ambiance within your log home great room, any of the above mentioned fireplaces would work.

Another decision you will have to determine is your log home fireplace finish.  The three most typical finishes are Natural full thickness veneer stone, natural thin veneer stone and reclaimed brick.
